@PaineAthletics Football Falls to Clark Atlanta on the Road, 34-0

ATLANTA, Ga. (Football)—The Paine College football team traveled to face the Clark Atlanta Panthers for their Homecoming and were defeated, 34-0.

The loss moves the Lions to 1-8 overall, 0-6 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Panthers are now 3-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

The first touchdown came in the second quarter when Clark Atlanta's Bre'nard Williams intercepted a pass from Trevous Reynold and ran it 78 yards for the score with 11:41 left, 7-0. e TheThhdddthehhhddddd The Panther would score again with 4:06 left in the second quarter as Montavious Taylor sprinted 14 yards to break the plane for a touchdown. Austin Casillas kicked the ball through the upright to make the score, 14-0, heading in to halftime.

Clark Atlanta would score three more touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Taylor ran 4 yards into the end zone and Casillas made the point after with 13:11 left, 21-0. Trenton Earl ran 32 yards for the Panther's fourth touchdown with 9:37 left, 27-0. For the last score of the game, Earl threw a 69 yard pass to Davonte Webster and Casillas made the point after with 5:09 left to bring the final score to 34-0.

The Lions finished the day with 207 total offensive yards. Isiah Jenkins was the leading rusher for the day with 80 yards. Loranzo Hammonds went 4 for 11 and threw for 55 yards. The Lions defense was active as Kristopher O'Neal made an interception for 12 yards and Diquan Richardson recorded 10 tackles.

The Panthers had 346 total offensive yards and five touchdowns. Earl finished the day with 7 for 13, one interception and one touchdown. Clark Atlanta's defense was lights out as Williams accounted for 18 tackles and two sacks for 15 yards.

The Lions returns to action on Nov. 8th at 2 p.m. in the Augusta City Classic as they play Benedict College in their last game of the season.
