ROCK HILL, S.C. (Men's and Women Track & Field) – The Paine College men's and women track & field team competed in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championship in Rock Hill, S.C. from April 14-16.

The Lions improved on both sides from last season's appearance at the championship meet. The women placed fifth with a score of 63.5. Last year, the Lady Lions scored only 14 points. The men placed ninth with a score of 26.

The Albany State University women claimed the title with 196 points and Benedict College won the men's title with 193.5 points.

Tashauna Smith won the SIAC women's triple jump title with a flight of 12.10m.

Diamond Walker capped off her senior season with two top three finishes. Walker placed third in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:18.99. Jenella John of Benedict won the event with a time of 2:14.63. Walker also took third place in the women's 1500m run with a time of 5:16.23. John (Benedict) claimed the title with a time of 5:12.25.

Bria McAllister closed out her senior campaign with top five and top ten finishes in her events. In the women's pole vault, McAllister finished in third place with a flight of 2.00m. The event was won by Lashawnda Warren of Claflin University with a flight of 2.30m. McAllister placed fifth in the women's heptathlon with a combined score of 3,400. Irrion Conaler of Albany State won the event with a score of 3,966.

Caprice Lockett tied for third place in the women's high jump with a flight of 1.50m. The event was won by Philicia Batton of Albany State with a flight of 1.70m.

In the men's 4x100m relay, the Paine men (Mykevius Johnson, Richard Bell, Jaleel Filmore, Jamar Thornton) claimed third place with a time of 41.89. Stillman College won the event with a time of 40.93.
