FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Paine College softball team lost a pair of games at Fort Valley State Thursday afternoon by a score of 5-4 and 9-1.
The Lady Lions are now 6-14 on the season.
PC jumped on top with a run in the second frame.
Z'Liyah Harris led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a walk to
Allana Adams. After a hit by
Ana Cobas loaded the bases, Dara Ayoui was hit by a pitch, knocking in Harris.
Tied at 1-1 in the sixth, Harris tripled to right center field.
Leidy Garcia entered as a pinch runner and scored on a groundout by
Kayla Carter.
With the score at 2-2 in the seventh, Cobas walked and swiped second. After two passed balls, Cobas crossed home plate. Ayoui, who had walked, scored on a sacrifice fly by
Nakeira Mallory.
FVSU responded with three runs in the seventh for the 5-4 win.
For the game, Cobas and Harris had two hits apiece. Ayoui drove in two.
In the circle, Carter worked 6.2 innings and had five strikeouts.
Game two saw the home team take a 2-0 lead into the third, but the Lady Lions sliced the deficit in half. M. Hingosa led off the inning with a single and hustled to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, she went to third on a passed ball. Ayoui laid down a sacrifice bunt, plating Hingosa to make it 2-1.
The home team pushed the score to 4-1 in the fourth before adding five runs in the fifth for the eight-run win.
For the game, Cobas led the visitors with two hits.

Difany De La Rosa got the start and had a strikeout. M. Hingosa worked the final four frames in the loss.
The Lady Lions return to action tomorrow when they play a doubleheader at Albany State at 2 p.m.
