FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Paine College softball team lost a 6-4 decision to No. 2 Carolina University in the opening game of the NCCAA South Region Championship.

The Lady Lions are now 13-22 on the season.

Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, PC struck back with a pair of runs.

The score remained the same until the seventh when the Bruins plated four runs. PC scored two in the bottom of the seventh, but the team was unable to push across the tying run.

Alexis Mena led the way with a two-hit performance. Ana Cobas, Lena Sellam and Emmy Segura all had hits and scored. Segura drove in one. Z'Liyah Harris tallied a hit while Dara Ayovi Sr., crossed home for the designated home team.

Kayla Carter tossed seven innings and had four strikeouts. She gave up six runs on seven hits, but only two of the runs were earned.
