FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Paine College softball team lost a hard fought 8-7 game to No. 1 Fort Lauderdale in the NCCAA South Region Championship Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Lions complete the season at 15-23.
PC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second before UFL pushed across four runs in the third.
The Lady Lions responded with a three-run fourth for a 5-4 edge. Tied at 5-5 in the seventh, PC pushed across two runs before the home team plated three runs to win the game on a walk-off.
For the game,
Ana Cobas and
Alexis Mena had two hits apiece. Cobas drove in two while
Kayla Carter crossed home twice.
Emmy Segura registered the team's lone extra-base hit, a double.
In the circle,
Marina Hinojosa Jr., got the start and worked 3.1 innings. She gave up four runs, three of which were earned, on six hits. Carter tossed the final three innings and gave up four runs on three hits. She also recorded a strikeout.
