Double-digit Scoring Lifts Lady Lions in Overtime Win

Augusta, GA- Four Lady Lions led by senior Janisha Wilkerson, Sophomore Tierra Boykin, Freshman Briona Andrews, and Senior Aalyiha Wright, scored in double digits and two of those four posted double-doubles to lead Paine College to an overtime win over Fort Valley State University, Monday evening, November 21, 2016. 
 
Wilkerson led the way for the Lady Lions, posting a double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds, to go along with six blocks, and three steals. Boykin also posted 19 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals in the 93-88 win. 
 
Paine College finished the evening shooting 37.8 percent from the floor, 50 percent from the three point line and 78.4 percent from the free throw line.
 
At the half, the Lady Lions trailed the Lady Wildcats 35-38, and continued to trail by six for a good portion of the third quarter.  Free throws by Aalyiha Wright brought the game within one, but the Wildcats scored four points to hold on to a 59-54 lead.  The Lady Lions took their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter on a three pointer by Briona Andrews, assisted by Boykin and right back again; Andrews hit another three pointer to maintain the Lady Lions lead, 67-64.

With the score knotted at 79, the game went into overtime, and the Lady Lions outscored the Wildcats 14-9 to secure the win.
 
The win moved Paine's record to 2-1 and Fort Valley, 0-3 continues to look for a win.
 
The Lady Lions will be back in action, Wednesday, November 23 traveling to Clayton State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
