OZARK, Ala. (Baseball) -- The Paine College baseball team played in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament on Friday evening against #1W Stillman College. The Lions never truly found a rhythym in the game and were defeated in seven innings with a score of 17-1.
With the loss, Paine drops to 27-19 and Stillman moves to 26-22.
On the day, the Lions finished with one run, four hits, and three errors. Stillman finished the game with 17 runs, 18 hits, and one error.
It was a rough day for Paine's pitching staff.
Evan Krenz picks up the loss for Paine with one inning pitched for six runs, six hits, and two walks.
Juan Berger pitched two innings for six hits, four runs, two walks, and two strike outs.
Quentin Alsbrook pitched one inning for six hits and seven runs.
Raul Sweeney closed the game for the Lions with one inning pitched for no hits, no runs, one walk, and two strike outs.
Kewayne McCray nabbed the win for Stilman with six inning pitched for two hits, one run, three walks, and five strike outs.
Paine will play at 9 a.m. on Saturday in an elimination game with Miles College.
