AUGUSTA, Ga. (Baseball) – The Paine Lions baseball team took the field on Wednesday in a midweek matchup against Augusta University. Paine was defeated by the Jaguars, 14-3.
The loss moves Paine to 19-13 and Augusta improves to 24-11.
The Lions were able to get on the board with one run in the bottom of the third inning when
Kendrick Elder hit a double to drive in
Jalen Horton, 5-1.
Paine's last two runs were scored in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Jordan Deadwyler hit a single to drive in
Ricky Caruajal, 10-2.
Kennith Lewis singled to score Deadwyler, 10-3.
Richard Marte picks the loss for Paine with three hits, four runs, three walks, and one strikeout.
David Hagelston takes the win for the Jags with two hits, one run, and four strikeouts.
The Lions will travel to Orangeburg, S.C. on April 9th to face Claflin University in a weekend series beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at noon.
