ALBANY, Ga. - The Paine College men's basketball team lose to Albany State University, 68-59, Saturday afternoon in Albany, Georgia.
PC drops to (1-12, 0-7 SIAC) while the Rams improve to (9-8, 4-3 SIAC)
After going into the locker room with a 38-36 lead over ASU, the Lions were outscored in the second half 32-21. With the score tied at 52-52 with 12:45 remaining in the contest, Albany State would go on a 16-7 run to end the game holding Paine to only three points in the final eight minutes.
Malcom Whittington led PC with 16 points while pulling down nine rebounds and
Kaderious Compton recorded his second double-double in a row scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Yusef Riley had another strong performance for the Lions finishing with 11 points and seven boards.
Paine shot 36.4 (24-of-66) percent from the floor but just 21.1(4-of-19) percent from behind the arc. PC would go on to force 10 Ram turnovers while blocking five shots.
ASU was led by Khaliq Hughes who finished with a team-high 13 points. Michael Green added nine points and eight rebounds and Jadon Davis 11 points helped in the victory.
The Lions return to action this Monday, January 16th as they take on the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
