AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Paine College men's basketball team fell to Clark Atlanta University in SIAC action, 80-63, on Thursday evening at the HEAL Complex.
The Lions record drops to 2-20 overall and a 0-14 SIAC record while CAU improves to 15-11 and 9-5 in conference play.
On a night that saw PC's only lead come on the first basket of the game, the Panthers controlled the entire night. The Lions went into the locker rooms down 34-25 and didnt get much closer as Clark Atlanta's lead ballooned to as many as 19 points with 14:40 remaining in the ball game.
Paine was led by senior forward
Kaderious Compton who led PC with game-high 17 points and eight rebounds while
Jerodd Blount scored 11 and
Jared Tate scored 10 off of the bench. PC was out-rebounded 45-33 on the boards, and were held to just 33.9 (21-of-62) percent from the field.
Lawrence Triplett led six Panthers in double figures as he finished with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Tajai Johnson finished with a team-high 15 points in the winning effort.
Paine College returns to actions this Saturday, February 18, as they travel to Birmingham, Alabama to take on the Golden Bears of Miles College. Tip time is 3 p.m. CT.
