MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Paine College women's basketball played a strong first half but fell on the road against Alabama State, 84-58, on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Lions fall to 1-2 while the Lady Hornets improved to 3-2 on the year.

PC was led by junior forward Keondra Archie as she finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Senior Jasmine Williams had seven points and 10 rebounds while sophmores Akirah Robinson and Yasha Merritt had 11 and 10 points respectively.

ASU had five players in double-figures and were led by Ayana Emmanuel, Jayla Crawford and Hannah White who each had 15 points.

• Paine connected on just 21-of-63 (33.3 percent) from the field, while Alabama State hit 26-of-64 (40.6 percent)
• The Lady Lions made 26 turnovers to the Lady Hornets 19
• PC drained just 11-of-24 shots from the charity line while ASU shot (83.9 percent) from the strip hitting 26-of-31
• Paine was out-rebounded 35-29 including 16-9 on the offensive boards

First Half

• Paine started the game on an 8-0 run in the first 3:05
• Paine went into the locker room with a 40-39 lead
• Keondra Archie led all players at the half with 10 and six rebounds
• The Lady Lions shot 45.9 percent from the field
• The teams were tied at 17-17 after on quarter
• PC led by as many as five (36-31) with 2:08 remaining in the half

Second Half

• Paine only scored 18 points the entire second half should just 15.4 percent
• PC allowed ASU to score 45 second half points
• The Lady Lions trailed by as many as 28 at the 2:20 mark
• Jasmine Williams had nine second half rebounds and three blocks

The Lady Lions will return to action when they host USC-Aiken on Tuesday night Nov. 26. The contest will tipoff at 6:00 p.m.
