AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Paine College Lady Lions forced a season high 30 turnovers in a 67-60 victory over Miles College on Monday evening in the HEAL Complex.
PC improves to .500 for the first time this year (3-3, 2-0 SIAC) while MC falls to 5-2, 1-1 SIAC.
Paine was led by junior forward
Keondra Archie who had a game-high 20 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Junior forward
Jasmine Williams finished with 13 points and pulled down five rebounds while sophomore guard
Akirah Robinson chipped in with 11 points. Junior transfer
Victoria Jackson led the defensive effort with five steals and one block while scoring six points.
The Lady Bears were led by Sakina Wynn who finished with a double-double 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Team Stats
- Paine connected on 21-of-54 (38.9 percent) from the field, while the Lady Bears hit just 18-of-66 (27.3 percent).
- Miles won the battle on the boards 52-35 with a 27-13 advantage on the offensive glass
- PC forced a season high 30 turnovers in which they converted into 24 points
- Paine outscored Miles 12-2 on fast break points
First Half
- Paine's largest lead of the half was seven points as they jumped out to a 9-2 lead
- PC held MC to just 25.8 percent shooting
- Jasmine Williams paced Paine with eight first half points
- The Lady Lions went into the locker rooms with a one point lead, 26-25
Second Half
- Keondra Archie scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half
- PC outscored MC 41-35 in the half
- The Lady Lions nailed 3-of-4 from behind the arc
- Paine led by as many as 14 points before holding on for the seven point victory
The Lady Lions return to action this Saturday, December 7, as they travel to face crosstown rival the Lady Jaguars of Augusta University. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
