Four Net Double Figures In Loss To Brewton-Parker, 83-80

AUGUSTA, Ga.
– The Paine College men's basketball team lost a hard-fought 83-80 contest to Brewton-Parker Tuesday evening.

The Lions are now 0-2 while BPC improves to 2-3.

Head coach Kerby Marshall's team was led by Nate Adams' double-double effort of 25 points and 18 rebounds. Adams was spectacular, filling up the box score with seven steals, five assists and two blocks in 38 minutes of action. He converted seven-of-17 from the floor and notched 11-of-17 from the charity stripe.

Calvin Johnson was uncanny from the floor, burying seven-of-nine, including hitting all three shots from distance in 28 minutes of work. Quinnton Jackson added 15 points to go along with six assists, a block and a steal while playing all but one minute in the game.

Ivan Lawson tallied 13 points on six-of-10 shooting from the floor. He also snagged four rebounds in 30 minutes of work before fouling out.

Amarie Kirby chipped in six points while Elijah Greer-Dawson and Kole Taylor added two points apiece.

For the game, the Lions hit 30-of-70 from the floor (42.9 percent), including seven-of-23 from downtown (30.4 percent). The difference came at the charity stripe as the visitors canned 27-of-38 (71.1 percent) while PC hit 13-of-24 (54.2 percent).

Marshall's team outscored BPC 36-28 in the paint. The team converted 14 turnovers into 23 points. The Linos also totaled 16 second-chance points. PC maintained a 22-11 lead on the break. Both teams snagged 16 offensive rebounds. The visitors held a 46-44 advantage on the glass.

PC trailed 53-38 at halftime but the home squad made it a one possession game late in the second half. However, BPC managed to secure the three-point victory.

In the second half, PC limited the opposition to a mere five-of-26 (19.2 percent) from the floor, including a zero-for-four effort from downtown.

The Lions return to action Saturday when they play at the College of Coastal Georgia at 4 p.m.
