JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Paine College softball team split a pair of games against Fort Lauderdale Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Lions are now 1-5 on the season.
Paine won the first game 4-3 before falling 10-6 in the nightcap.
In the opener,
Kamari Blackmon led the way with a two-RBI performance while
Leidy Garcia and
Ka'niyah Robertson each had one RBI.
Dara Ayovi crossed home twice.
Blackmon and Garcia each had three hits while Ayovi and and
Emmy Segura notched two hits apiece.
Garcia registered a pair of doubles. Ayovi, Blackmon and Robertson all had one double.
The Lady Lions fell behind 1-0 before plating a run in the second and third innings. Trailing 3-2 in the fifth, Paine scored twice en route to the win.
Montana Cagle tossed a complete game. She had one strikeout and gave up just two earned runs.
In the nightcap, a five-run fourth inning from Fort Lauderdale broke open a 2-1 game. However, the Lady Lions continued to push forward, plating four runs in the seventh for the final 10-6 tally.
Ayovi garnered four hits, one RBI and scored twice to lead the way.
Leticia Y. Omori had two doubles and scored twice in the loss.
Destiny Lawrence went the distance in the circle, picking up three strikeouts while giving up just three earned runs.
