AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Paine College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Edward Waters by scores of 6-4 and 2-1.
The Lady Lions are now 5-14 on the season.
PC fell behind 6-0 but fought back in the bottom of the fourth frame with a pair of runs. The home squad added two more runs in the sixth. However, the team could not push across any more runs in the first game of the doubleheader.
Dara Ayovi and
Jakiyra Lemmon had two hits apiece in the first game. Lemmon and
Leticia Y. Omori drove in a run while Ayovi and Y. Omori each crossed home twice.
Montana Cagle tossed 6.1 innings and had two strikeouts. Y. Omori worked the final two-thirds of an inning.
In the nightcap, EW scored a run in the second and another in the seventh but the Lady Lions continued to battle, plating a run in the final at bat.
Katherine Sugilio and Lemmon each had a hit in the game.
Leidy Garcia knocked in
Brionna King for the team's lone run.
Omori threw a complete game, tossing three strikeouts.
The Lady Lions return to action Monday, Apr. 10 when they play at Fort Valley State for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
