MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Paine College baseball team lost a 12-6 contest to top-seeded Rust Friday afternoon.
The Lions are now 15-15 on the season.
Dominique Page and
Rayvion Alexander each led the way with two hits. Page drove in three runs while Alexander knocked in two.
Jeury Beato and
Denny Daza had one hit apiece. Beato notched on RBI.
Page accounted for a double while Beato blasted a solo home run. On the base paths, Alexander swiped two bases while Beato and Page each had one theft.

Vladimir Lemos and
Jhoel Melone each scored a run.
Trailing 5-0 in the top of the fifth, PC got going. Daza led off the frame with a single to center field. Two batters later, Fernandez walked. Lemos followed him up with a base on balls. Page cleared the bags with a double to center field. After loading the bases again, Alexander's single to right field knotted the score at 5-5.
Down 7-5 in the top of the seventh, Beato blasted a home run down the left field line that went off the foul pole, making it a one-run game. However, that was as close as the designated visitors could get.
Rust managed to plate two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth for the final score.
Emmanuel Martinez worked five innings and took the loss. He struck out a batter.
Fabio Warff tossed the final three frames and had a strikeout.
