Lady Lions Record Victory Over Pensacola Christian AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Paine College women's basketball team knocked off Pensacola Christian College by a score of 49-37 Thursday evening. The Lady Lions are now 1-9 on the season. Head coach Kisha Lucette's team was led by Jada Brooks' 14 points to go along with four assists and four steals. Daejah Houck added 13 points to go along with four steals. Leia Brown added seven points and five rebounds while Kyra McCrary totaled four points and seven boards. Jada Mullinex accounted for seven points and three steals while Castella Sherrod tallied seven boards in the victory. Brooks opened the scoring with a three-point bucket and Houck added three points from downtown at the 7:36 mark. Houck's lay-up off a pass from Brooks pushed the score to 8-0. Brown's basket and McCrary's bucket extended the score to 12-0 with 4:39 to play in the first quarter. Leading 12-2, Brooks hit two free throws before Mullinex buried a shot from behind the arc to make it 19-2. Lucette's team held a 19-4 advantage going into the second quarter. With the score at 22-8, Deavin Pitt hammered a jumper with 6:59 to go in the second stanza. Brown pushed the score to 26-8. Brooks hit a jumper and McCrary buried two foul shots for a 30-8 advantage with 1:31 to go but the Eagles netted the final four points of the half to make it 30-12. The Lady Lions held a 40-20 advantage prior to Sherrod hitting a lay-up with 2:56 to go in the third frame. Brooks buried a three-ball at the 2:22 mark for a 25-point lead. The Eagles cut the deficit to 47-28 just before the fourth quarter. The visitors managed to outscore the Lady Lions 9-2 in the final frame, but Lucette's team notched the resounding victory in front of a tremendous crowd. For the game, PC hit 18-of-56 from the floor, including seven-of-28 from downtown. The squad buried all six free throw attempts. The Lady Lions snagged 44 rebounds and dished out 13 assists in the victory. The squad tallied 14 steals in the win. The Lady Lions return to action Saturday, Jan. 13 at Clinton College. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
