Kisha Lucette, a Hall of Fame player in both volleyball and basketball at Paine College is in her 10th season as Head Women's Volleyball Coach and second season at Paine College as Head Women’s Basketball Coach. She also serves as the Senior Woman administrator.

Coach Lucette has served as head women’s track & field coach, and during the 2011 season proved to be very successful. Several Lady Lions received All-conference awards, including freshman Baiesha Johnson who was chosen as SIAC 2011 Field Athlete of the Year, won the women’s high jump and long jump competitions, and made an appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament in both events. At the national tournament, Baiesha received the third place medal in the long jump, and finished 6th in the women’s high jump competition.
 
Lucette’s women’s high jump team swept the 2011 championships. In addition to Johnson, Antionette McPhail placed second, and Victoria Claytor claimed the bronze medal.

Lucette was a proven winner at Paine College, leading the Lady Lions Basketball team to back-to-back SIAC basketball championships. Kisha played a vital role in guiding the Lady Lions to winning seasons of 16-10, 16-12, 18-11, and 22-9 with the latter two seasons (04-06) ending in Paine College’s first women’s basketball SIAC championship and consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament berths. The retirement of her jersey’s made her the first and only woman athlete in Paine College history to have not only one, but two jerseys retired and one of three athletes to ever be bestowed this honor.

Being one of the most athletic female athletes to compete for Paine College, Lucette received numerous awards. In 2003-04, she was named to the SIAC All-Conference Team, and was the leading rebounder for Paine. 2004-05, she was selected as the SIAC All-Tournament MVP award, SIAC All-Tournament team, Paine’s MVP, and Savannah River Charter’s and Tours Outstanding Performance in Women’s basketball. The 2005-06 season she was named to the SIAC All-Conference first team, and duplicated SIAC tournament awards from the previous season, and was also named MVP for Paine College.  During her career, from 2002-2006, Lucette played in 111 games, averaged 10 points per game, 7 rebounds per game, recorded a total of 110 blocks, and 186 steals.

In addition to receiving numerous basketball awards, Lucette left her mark in volleyball as well. In 2005-06, Kisha helped lead the Lady Lions to a 35-4 overall record during her senior season. During that season, she recorded 646 kills, was nationally ranked 22, for kills per game, averaging 4.8 per game, recorded 98 service aces, 630 digs, and 201 total blocks.   As a freshman, she received the SIAC Volleyball tournament “Hustle Award.” In 2004 Lucette left her mark in the SIAC, being named to the All-Conference team, received the Defensive Specialist award, and was selected as the SIAC Defensive Player of the Year.   During Lucette’s senior season, she was recorded as the NCAA Division II Statistical Champion for the highest hitting percentage, SIAC Offensive Player of the Year, SIAC first team All-Conference, SIAC MVP, and she also received several awards form Paine College.
 
In Lucette’s debut as Head Women’s basketball coach in a new athletic division, the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Southern Region Division 1 she had two players to excel. Tania Ward, a senior guard earned second team all-region for the southern region.

Jada Brooks, a freshman shooting guard received First Team All-Region, Player of the Year in the South Region, and Second Team All-American.

In 2015, Lucette was inducted into the Paine College Athletics Hall of Fame for all of her accolades. She also received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award presented by the UNCF National Alumni Council in 2015. Kisha was also inducted into the inaugural class of 2022 Paine College’s 40 Under 40.

Lucette graduated from Paine College in 2007 and received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Sociology. Lucette grew up in Milledgeville, GA, and attended Baldwin High School. She is the daughter of Dexter and Diane Lucette, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
