@PaineAthletics Volleyball Heads to Benedict, Hosts Clark Atlanta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (Volleyball) – The Paine College Lady Lions Volleyball team (10-16, 6-7 SIAC) heads to Columbia, S.C. to face the Tigers of Benedict College on Tuesday and hosts the Clark Atlanta Panther in the HEAL Complex Friday. Both matches are set to start at 6 p.m.

Currently, the Tigers are 13-9 overall and 10-5 in conference play. While the Lady Panthers are 5-20, overall and 5-5 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

Junior libero, Rachel Walker, will be a huge asset to the Lady Lions going into this match. This season, Walker has amassed 105 digs, averaging 3.18 a set. Kingsville has several other players who are producing big number this season. Lydia Elmore has a team high 40 kills followed by Tiera Daugherty will 39. Elmore has also been an immovable object on the front row with her blocking. So far, Elmore has accounted for 10 blocks this season, averaging .29 a set and is second for the team in digs with 58. Kayla Lewis is leading the team in assists averaging 2.56.

Benedict is led by Lorena Leao, who leads the Tigers with 176 kills this season, and setter LaPromise Boone. Boone is in first place for Benedict with 550 assists this season. Je'Nae Saunders leads the defense with 3.80 digs a set.

Clark Atlanta will have Cori Smith leading them into the match against the Lady Lions. Smith is averaging 2.56 kills per set. She will have the help of Dariyan Stallings who is averaging  3.67 digs per set. Brittani Brown sets the offense up averaging 6.55 assists.
