AUGUSTA, Ga. (Volleyball) – The Paine College Lady Lions swept Clark Atlanta, 3-0, in their Friday match in the HEAL Complex. The set scores were 25-17, 25-11, and 26-24.
With the victory, Paine College moves to 11-17, overall and 7-8 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Panthers drop to 5-21 overall, and 5-6 in the SIAC.
Lydia Elmore and
Deja Sims-Dean lead the Lady Lions with four kills apiece.
Rachel Walker led the defense with 10 digs and
Kayla Lewis kept the table set for Paine with eight assists.
Jasper Lewis was the lead blocker for the Lady Lion with four total blocks. Sims-Dean and
Totyanna Corbitt finished the night with two service aces apiece. Sims-Dean also had the highest hitting percentage of the night with .364.
As a team, Paine finished the night with 20 kills, 36 digs, nine blocks, six service aces and a .321 hitting percentage.
The Lady Panthers were led by Alexandria Mattox with five kills. Dariyan Stallings had the most service aces with three. Clark Atlanta's defense was led by Cori Smith as she accounted for 10 digs.
Clark Atlanta finished with 19 kills, 30 digs, two blocks, and nine service aces.
Paine returns to action in a tri-match on Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. as they travel to Columbia, S.C. to Livingston College and Allen University.
