AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's basketball) – The Paine College Lady Lions suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Lady Falcons of St. Augustine's, 95-92 on Monday night. The loss is the fourth for Paine on their home court, the HEAL Complex.
The Lady Lions fall to 1-6 on the season and St. Augustine's is now 4-3 overall.
Senior
Tannasia Rhodes led Paine with 22 points and eight assists.
Brianna Simms was second in scoring with 19 points. LaShonda Canty led the team with 12 total rebounds while Rhodes came in second with 10. LaSharon Salahuddin proved to have the quickest hands of the night with four steals for the Lady Lions. Canty and Delisia Sharpe each had two blocks.
As a team, Paine finished with 46 total rebounds, 24 assists, 13 steals, and four assists.
Regime McCombs led St. Augustine's with 36 points and Porscha Walton was second in points with 17. Walton had the most assists with four. McCombs, LaKiya Rouse, and Jeanne-Marie Wilson each had five rebounds. Shakeisha Washington had the only block of the night for the Lady Falcons.
St. Augustine's ended the night with 30 rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals.
Paine will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. against the College of Coastal Georgia in the HEAL Complex.
