AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's basketball) – Coach
Willie Adams and the Paine College Lady Lions proved to be the better team in 101-71 victory over College of Coastal Georgia in the HEAL Complex on Thursday night.

The Lady Lions move to 2-6 on the season while the Mariners drop to 6-9 overall.

At halftime, Paine led Coastal Georgia be 18 points, 51-33.

Paine had six players in the double figures including LaShonda Canty who finished with 20 points. Â Canty was the top blocker for the Lady Lions with three.
Jemetria Fletcher was second for points with 18.Not to be out done,
Tannasia Rhodes snagged her first triple double of the season. Rhodes scored 13 points, had 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Rhodes also led the team in steals for the night with seven.
Aalyiha Wright was in the thick of the action and picked up a double double. Wright scored 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Brianna Simms and Delisia Sharpe each contributed 13 points to the victory. Simms had nine rebounds and Sharpe had four.Â

As a team, the Lady Lions shot 45.6 percent from the field. The team also finished the night with 47 total rebounds, 19 steals, and four blocks.

Kierstan Green led the Mariners with 14 points. Olivia Melvin followed with 13 Maria Esbo, and Janne Tullius scored 10 apiece. Â Coastal Georgia's Shaikieria Armstrong finished the night with a double double. Armstrong had 10 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Gabby O'Sullivan had team-high seven assists.

Overall, the Mariners ended the evening with 43 rebounds, 12 assists, three steals, and two blocks.

Paine will return to action on Saturday, January 3rd, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the HEAL Complex as the team faces Spring Hill College in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup.
