AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's Basketball) – Paine College women's basketball team suffered their 11th loss of the season after rallying back against Stillman College, 68-60.
The Lady Lions drop to 4-11 on the season and 2-5 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Lady Tigers move to 3-11 overall and 3-3 in league play.
Tannasia Rhodes and
Janisha Wilkerson led Paine in scoring with 15 points each.
Lashonda Canty showed her presence in the middle by recording 11 boards for the game. She was followed by standout Wilkerson with eight.
Lasharon Salahuddin was the assist leader for the Lady Lions with five. Canty, Wilkerson and
BreAsia Burns each accounted for one block. Rhodes led the team in steals with three.
As a team, Paine finished the night with 39 rebounds, 13 steals, 11 assists, and three blocks. The team was 29.9 percent from the field, 18.2 percent from the arc and 72 percent from the free throw line.
Stillman was led by Samantha Thomas with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds for the game. She was followed by Angel Mitchell with 13 points. Joclyn Ramos also recorded a double-double for the night with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Mitchell and Andrea Moore each had four assists for the night. Thomas and Seqoia Nelson both had blocks for the Lady Tigers. Earnecia Washington led the team in steals with four.
Stillman finished the night 43 rebounds, 16 assists, 14 steals, and two blocks. The team was 41.3 percent from the field, 23.5 percent from the arc, and 85.7 percent from the free throw line.
The Lady Lions will host the Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State on Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the HEAL Complex.
