COLUMBIA, S.C. (Women's Volleyball) -- Coach
Kisha Lucette and the Paine College Lady Lions volleyball team was taken to the limit with NAIA opponent, Allen University on Wednesday night as the team won the match 3-2. The set scores were 25-21, 24-26, 25-17, 25-27, and 16-14.
Aubrey Woodley led the Lady Yellow Jackets with 14 kills. She was followed by Alaysia Fox and Shantira Johnson with nine kills. Tilar Stanford was the assists leader with 29, while Kayla Sutton led the defense with 10 digs.
As a team, Allen finished the night with 43 kills, 21 assists, 35 digs, nine service aces, and four team blocks.
Paine was led by
Caprice Lockett with 14 kills and 10 digs.
Tiera Daugherty made her presence felt with 11 kills. Kayla Lewis and
Totyanna Corbitt kept the table set for the Lady Lions. Lewis ended the night with 16 and Corbitt finished with 14. Corbitt also accounted for three service aces. Defensively,
Jahkya Smith kept Paine in the match with 15 digs and she was followed by
Lydia Elmore with 10.
Deja Sims-Dean scored the winning kill for Paine in the deciding set.
The Lady Lions ended the night with 50 kills, 51 digs, 35 assists, 10 service aces, and 6.5 team blocks.
With the win, Paine improves to 9-6, overall, for the season. The Lady Lions travel to Fort Valley, Ga. to face Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent, Fort Valley State University, on Friday.
