AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's Volleyball) – The Paine College Lady Lions faced off against the Morris College Lady Hornets on Saturday afternoon in the HEAL Complex. Paine quickly defeated Morris in three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-8.
With the win, Paine moves to 11-9, overall, and Morris drops to 0-15 for the season.
Morris was led by Eniya Edwards with three kills and Imani Gibson with two. She'Andra Famble was the assists leader with three. She was followed by Gibson and Shameeka Hamilton with two each. Gibson was also the defensive leader for the Lady Hornets with six digs. Edwards and Yvonne Wright accounted for one service ace apiece.
Collectively, Morris finished the match with 10 kills, nine assists, 30 digs, two service aces and one team block.
Tiera Daugherty showed her ability to put the ball down with nine kills for Paine. She was followed by
Kayla Lewis with seven kills. Lewis and
Totyanna Corbitt kept the table set for the Lady Lions in the assists department with 16 and 10, respectively. Defensively,
Jahkya Smith finished the afternoon with 16 digs. Daugherty and
Lydia Elmore accounted for a solo block each.
Caprice Lockett showed her serving prowess with six service aces.
As a team, Paine finished the match with 26 kills, 29 assists, 26 digs, eight service aces and five team blocks.
The Lady Lions continue home action on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. as they face Benedict College for Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
