AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's Volleyball) – The Paine College Lady Lions volleyball team fought hard on Tuesday night to comeback but were defeated Benedict College through four sets of play. The set scores were 13-25, 24-26, 25-21 and 24-26.
With the loss, Paine drops to 5-8 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference play and 11-11, overall. Benedict moves to 8-5 in conference play and 9-9, overall.
Jocolby Brown led the way for the Lady Tigers with 16 kills and she was followed by Aaliyah Lawson with 13. The assist leader for the team was JeNae Saunders with 44. Defensively, P'Yuncka Kearse-Peep finished the match with 15 digs, while Saunders and Brianne McMillian had 10 each.  Saunders, McMillian and Brandi Jones accounted for two service aces apiece.
Benedict finished the night with 55 kills, 50 assists, 66 digs, eight service aces and five team blocks.
Paine was led by 
Tiera Daugherty with eight kills and 
Kayla Lewis with five. Lewis was also the assist leader with nine. She was followed by 
Totyanna Corbitt with seven. 
Jahkya Smith was defensive leader with 20 digs, while Lewis accounted for 10. 
Caprice Lockett had two service aces. Daugherty recorded the lone solo block for the Lady Lions.
As a team, Paine finished the night with 30 kills, 23 assists, 53 digs, four service aces, and eight team blocks.
The Lady Lions will host a tri-match on Satuday, Oct. 24 against Concordia College-Alabama at 2 p.m. and Augusta University at 6:30 p.m. in the HEAL Complex.
