AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's Volleyball) – The Paine College Lady Lions volleyball team played Concordia College-Alabama on Saturday afternoon in the HEAL Complex. The Lady Lions fought hard, traded sets with the Lady Hornets, and but were defeated, 3-2. The set scores were 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 21-25, and 11-15.
With the loss, Paine drops to 11-12, overall. Concordia-Alabama ends their season with a record of 15-18.
Jasmine Thompson was the offensive leader for the Lady Hornets with 16 kills. She was followed by LaPorsha Tolbert (13), Micah-Simone Clopton (12), and Latonia Raines (12). The assist leader for Concordia was Destini Moran with 54. Defensively, the team was led by Christy Ducre with 27 digs. She was followed by Tolbert (16), Clopton (15), and Destiny Thomas (11). Thompson also accounted for two service aces.
Collectively, the team finished the match with 62 kills, 56 assists, 73 digs, five service aces, and two total team blocks.
Tiera Daugherty had a prolific match with 17 kills. She was followed by
Deja Sims-Dean with 14.
Kayla Lewis kept the table set for the Lady Lions with 36 assists.
Defensively, Paine was led by
Kayla Josey with 15 digs. Daugherty and
Malachia Kendrick finished the game with a solo block each.
As a team, the Lady Lions finished the afternoon with 50 kills, 47 assists, 55 digs, and 9.5 total team blocks.
Paine will play Augusta University at 5:30 p.m. today in the HEAL Complex.
