WILBERFORCE, Ohio (Women's Basketball) – The Paine College women's basketball continued their three game road trip against Central State University. The Lady Lions fought hard but couldn't close the ticket and were defeated by the Lady Marauders, 75-60.
With the loss, Paine drops to 1-4, overall, and 0-2 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. Central State moves to 3-4, overall, and 1-2 in conference play.
Janisha Wilkerson led the way for Paine with double-double of 29 points and 15 rebounds. She was followed by
Ashley Watts with nine points and
Tierra Boykin with eight points.
Chasity Mullins was second in rebounds for the Lady Lions with eight boards. Watts and
Delisia Sharpe recorded two blocks apiece. Boykin was the assist leader with four.
As a team, Paine finished the night with 41 rebounds, 12 assists, 11 steals and five blocks. The Lady Lions were 33.3 percent from the field, and 57.1 percent from the free throw line.
The Lady Marauders were led by Jordyn Bond with 18 points and Kourtni Perry with a double-double of 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. They were followed by Ghameerah McCullers and Brianye' Copeland with 10 points each. Bond was the assist leader for Central State with five.
Collectively, the Lady Marauder finished the game with 42 rebounds, 17 assists, six steals, and three blocks. The team was 47.4 percent from the field, 46.7 percent from three point range, and 56 percent from the free throw stripe.
Paine ends the three game road swing in Jackson, Tenn. as they face Lane College at 5:30 p.m.
