AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's Volleyball) – Coach
Kisha Lucette and the Paine College Lady Lions volleyball team opened their season with huge win over Allen University on Wednesday. Paine swatted the Lady Yellowjackets in three sets with scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-18.
Allen was led by Kayla Sutton with seven kills. Sutton was followed by Aubrey Woodley with four. Tilar Stanford accounted for three service aces and a team high 11 assists. Defensively, Deidre Davis accumulated 15 digs.
As a team, the Lady Yellow Jackets totaled 18 kills, 14 assists, 30 digs and three blocks.
Newcomer
Caprice Lockett led Paine with eight kills and a hitting percentage of .316 for the night. Lockett was followed by
Tiera Daugherty and
Deja Sims-Dean with four kills apiece.
Kayla Lewis kept the table set to the tune of 11 assists. Defensively,
Jahkya Smith kept the Lady Lions in the game with 12 digs while Daugherty had two blocks.
As a team, Paine combined for 26 kills, 15 assists, 37 digs and six blocks.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Saturday as they have a tri-match with Edward Waters College and Converse College. The matches will start at noon and 4 p.m., respectively.
