SUMTER,S.C. (Women's Volleyball) -- The Paine College Lady Lions volleyball team stormed into Garrick- Human Development Center and defeated the Morris College Lady Hornets, 3-0, in their match on Thursday evening. The set scores were 25-14, 25-14, and 25-7.
With the win, Paine improves to 3-2 ,overall, this season while Morris drops to 0-5.
Morris was led by Tyesha Randall with five kills and two service aces. Randall was followed by Eniya Edwards with four kills. Shameeka Hamilton kept the table set for the Lady Hornets with six assists. Defensively, Imani Gibson had five digs.
As a team, Morris accumulated 17 kills, Â 12 assists, 21 digs, and 1 team block.
The Lady Lions were led by Deja Sims-Dean with nine kills. Sims-Dean was followed by Kayla Lewis with six kills and and a team high nine assists. Jahkya Smith and Totyanna Corbitt proved their serving prowess with three service aces a piece. Smith also recorded 11 digs for Paine. Caprice Lockett and Lydia Elmore accounted for eight digs.
Collectively, Paine finished the night with 29 kills, 20 assists, 11 service aces, 36 digs, and three team blocks.
The Lady Lions will return to action as they face Brewton Parker in the HEAL Complex on Monday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
