AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's Volleyball) – The Paine College Lady Lions volleyball team took the Brewton Parker College Lady Barons to the brink every set in their Monday evening match. The Lady Lions managed the sets well enough to steal the match, 3-1. The set scores were 26-28, 25-21, 25-23, and 25-14.
With the win, Paine improves to 4-2 overall this season. The Lady Barons drop to 1-6 for the season.
Brewton Parker was led by Autumn Beasley with six kills. Beasley was followed by Keianna Ledford with kills. Veronica Salas kept the table set for her teammates with 15 assists for the match. Kristen Fluery and Khadidja Fofana proved their serving prowess with two service aces a piece. Defensively, Kendall Thomas and Tasha Taylor led the team in digs with 28 and 26, respectively.
Collectively, the Lady Barons finished the game with 27 kills, 107 digs, 25 assists, eight service aces, and one team block.
Caprice Lockett led Paine with 13 kills. Lockett was followed by
Lydia Elmore with 11 and
Tiera Daugherty with 10.
Totyanna Corbitt and Daugherty accounted for two service aces a piece.
Kayla Lewis had a team high 22 assists. Defensively,
Jahkya Smith led Paine with 31 digs. She was followed by Lockett with 22 and Corbitt with 21.
As a team, Paine finished the night with 48 kills, 41 assists, 109 digs, and three team blocks.
Paine travels Birmingham, Ala. from Sept. 24-26 for the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover.
