AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's Basketball) – The Paine College Lady Lions basketball team hosted the Stillman College Lady Tigers in a Saturday afternoon match up in the HEAL Complex. Paine jumped on Stillman and never backed down to snap up the win, 81-74.
With the victory, Paine moves to 5-8, overall, 2-2 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play and the Lady Tigers drop to 7-5, overall, and 2-1 in league play.
The Lady Lions were led by
Janisha Wilkerson with 25 points and four blocks. Wilkerson was followed by
Ashley Watts with 22 points and a team high seven assists.
Aalyiha Wright recorded 16 points. Watts and
Chasity Mullins had noses for the ball as they came up with three steal each.
Delisia Sharpe made her presence known in the paint with five blocks.
Collectively, Paine finished the game with 38 rebounds, 18 assists, 11 blocks, and nine steals. The team was 49.2 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from the arc and 68 percent from the free throw line.
Joclyn Ramos was the leader for Stillman with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals. Ramos was followed by Earnicia Washington with 15 points. The Lady Tiger's table was kept set by Victoria Douglas with four assists.
As a team, Stillman finished the night with 28 rebounds, 17 assists and 11 steals. The team was 44.4 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from three point range, and 70 percent from the stripe.
The Lady Lions return to action against Spring Hill College as they host the Lady Badgers in the HEAL Complex on Jan. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
