TUSKEGEE, Ala. - The Paine College men's basketball team fell to Tuskegee University 75-57 on Monday afternoon at Booker T. Washington High School.
With both teams coming into the game with only one win the Lions dropped to (1-11, 0-6 SIAC) while the Golden Tigers improved to (2-12, 1-4 SIAC).
Down by only one point midway through the first half, 14-13, PC allowed TU to go on a 19-8 run and go into the locker rooms with a 33-22 half time lead. Paine cut the lead to as little as four points , 52-48, with 7:51 remaining in the second half, but Tuskegee responded with a torrid run and closed out the game winning by 18 points.
Yusef Riley led the Lions with 19 points while shooting an impressive 8-of-10 from the floor.
Justin Syphoe was the only other double digit score, dropping 13 points in the losing effort.
Paine shot 40.0 (20-of-40) percent from the field while connecting on 33.3 (6-of-18) percent from behind the arc. The Golden Tigers forced 15 PC turnovers on the night to there eight.
Tuskegee was led by Elijah McMillan who finished with a game-high 24 points and 14 rebounds, eight of them coming on the offensive end. Myles Thomas added 18 points while Travis Flagg and James Eads scored 11 and 13 respectively.
The Lions return to action this Saturday as they travel south to take on the Golden Rams of Albany State University in Albany, Ga. Tip is set for 3 p.m.
