TUSKEGEE, Ala. - The Paine women's basketball team pulled out an overtime victory over Tuskegee University, 72-70, Monday afternoon at Booker T. Washington High School in Tuskegee, Alabama.
The Lady Lions improve to (6-8, 3-4 SIAC) while the Tigerettes fall to (5-8, 1-3 SIAC).
Down by seven points with only 3:11 remaining, PC mounted a comeback and forced overtime when
Janisha Wilkerson hit the back end of two free-throws tying the score at 62-62. Both teams went back and forth in the overtime period and with just 12 seconds remaining by Simiria Huggins sank two free-throws giving Paine the two point victory.
Wilkerson recorded her 11th double-double of the year, finishing with game-high's 20 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Tania Ward had 18 points, connecting on 7-of-11 from the field while Huggins finished with 17 points for the Lady Lions.
Paine shot 32.7 (28-of-73) percent from the floor while shooting just 24.0 (6-of-25) percent from deep. PC forced 19 Tuskegee turnovers and blocked five shots in the game.
TU was led by Rachel Brownlee who finished with 20 points and five assist but had nine turnovers. Taylor Miller had 19 points while Cheyanne Williams chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.
The Lady Lions host CIAA foe, the Fayetteville State University Broncos this Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the HEAL Complex.
