LIONS DROP EXHIBITION CONTEST TO SAVANNAH STATE, 105-91

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Paine College men's basketball team dropped an exhibition contest to Savannah State University, 105-91, Friday evening in Savannah, Georgia.
The Lions started off hot from the floor as junior transfer, Phillip Garner (Atlanta, Ga.) shot a blistering 5-of-7 from behind the arc on his way to a 17 point first half giving PC a 54-53 lead going into the locker rooms.

The Tigers would turn up their defensive intensity in the second half holding Paine to 37 points while forcing 32 turnovers for the game on their way to the victory.

Paine was led by freshman, Cameron Gaines (Conyers, Ga.) who finished with a team-high 21 points, eight rebounds and five blocks. Garner would also finish with 21 points while juniors Joshua Holliday (Atlanta, Ga.) had 13 points and Babe Murphy (Columbus, Ohio) finished with 10 points and four rebounds in the losing effort.

SSU was led by Alante Fenner who finished with a game-high 29 points including shooting 7-of-9 from long range.

PC travels to Daytona Beach, Florida next week to start the regular season as they take on Palm Beach Atlantic University on Nov. 10 and Embry Riddle University on Nov. 11 in the Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia Shootout.
