SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Paine College women's basketball team lose its only exhibition game of the 2017-18 season, falling to Savannah State University 85-58 Tuesday evening.
The Lady Tigers, who compete in the NCAA Division I, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, started the game on an 11-0 run and never looked back. SSU went into the locker with a 47-29 lead.
Savannah State came out firing on all-cylinders in the second half extending the lead to as much as 26 points and never looked back.
Paine was led by transfer Asia Timmons (Norfolk, VA) who finished with a team-high, 16 points while shooting 5-of-13 from the field including four three-pointers, and nine rebounds. Fellow transfer Ashley Washington (Austin, TX) chipped in with 14 points and five assist, while freshman, Keondra Archie (Eastover, S.C.) finished with nine boards and seven points.
SSU had three players in double-figures led by Donasja Scoot who finished with 19 points. Kalyee Allen added 18 while Heniaya Moton scored 15 ponts.Â
Up next for the Lady Lions is a Sunday afternoon contest on November 19 versus USC-Aiken at the HEAL Complex. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
