AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Paine College Lady Lions won their Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener versus LeMoyne Owen College, 70-66, on Saturday afternoon at the HEAL Complex.
PC improves to 2-3, 1-0 SIAC while LOC falls to 1-2, 0-1 SIAC.
Paine was led by Senior forward
Keondra Archie who had a team-high 22 points and seven rebounds while junior guard
Tania Ward had 11 points and seven boards. Senior forward
Jasmine Williams chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots.
The Lady Magicians were led by Lamontazia Blair who finished with a game-high 26 points in the losing effort.
Team Stats
- Paine connected on just 20-of-60 (43.3 percent) from the field, while LeMoyne-Owen hit 25-of-59 (42.4 percent).
- The Lady Lions out-rebounded the Lady Magicians, 40-36
- PC had 17 second-chance points to LOC's eight
- Paine converted 22 points on 19 LeMoyne-Owen turnovers
First Half
- Paine's largest lead of the half came in the second quarter when they lead 32-23 with 2:02 remaining
- Neither team hit a three-pointer in the first half
- The Lady Lions went into the locker rooms with a 32-26 lead
Second Half
- Keondra Archie scored 14 points
- PC was outscored 40-38 in the half
- Jasmine Williams had all three of her blocks
- The Lady Lions nailed 11-of-16 from the charity strip which ended up to be the difference
Paine College returns to action this Monday evening December 2, as they host the Lady Bears of Miles College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
