JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jakobe Williams accounted for a double-double and five Paine College student-athletes registered double figures but it was not enough in the 93-86 overtime loss at Edward Waters.

The Lions fall to 5-9 on the season.

Nate Adams and Quinnton Jackson each hit for 17 points while Williams accounted for 16 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.

Elija Greer and Dejuan Lockett posted 12 points apiece. Adams tallied nine rebounds while Jackson, Lockett and James Davis each snagged seven boards. Jackson led the defene with three steals.

The Lions built an eight-point edge (31-23) after a lay-up by Davis at the 5:43 mark of the first half. Paine led 38-34 at the break.

The Lions held a 22-point lead after Greer's rebound and putback with 12:41 to play in regulation. However, the home team managed to take a 77-75 lead with 1:52 to go. The back-and-forth contest saw Lockett hit a free throw for an 80-77 edge with 11 ticks on the clock. Edward Waters tied the game on a three-ball with seven seconds to play. Jackson missed a last-second three-point shot as the game went into overtime.

Edward Waters scored the first 11 points in overtime and held on for the seven-point victory. 

For the game, Paine hit 34-of-90 from the floor. The squad also snagged 55 rebounds and dished out 17 assists. The Lions notched 19 second-chance points and converted 17 turnovers into 17 points.

The Lions return to action Thursday when they play at North Greenville at 7 p.m.
