AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Paine College baseball team lost an 11-7 decision to Toccoa Falls Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions are now 8-7 on the season.
PC tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth but TFC scored 10 runs over the next two frames for a 10-1 lead.
The Lions plated a run in the seventh, four in the eighth and one more in the ninth but the team was unable to tie the game.
PC tallied 11 hits in the contest.
Jeury Beato led the way with a three-for-three effort with two RBI.
Joshua Cruz and
Jhoel Melone had two hits apiece. One of Melone's base hits was a round-tripper. He drove in a game-high three runs.
Alejandro Fernandez walked four times in the contest.
Cruz and Fernandez both drove in a run and scored a run.
Ty-re Dixon crossed home a game-high two times.
Hunter Justice took the loss after pitching four strong innings. He struck out a team-best five batters.
Christian Tibabijo and
Emmanuel Martinez had one strikeout each while
Joshua Cruz worked the final two frames and had a pair of strikeouts.
The Lions return to action Friday when they host Carolina in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
