SUMTER, S.C. – The Paine College baseball team split a doubleheader at Morris College Saturday, winning 8-1 before falling 10-5 in the nightcap.
The Lions are now 11-11 on the season.
PC fell behind 1-0 in the third inning but promptly scored a run in the fourth, one in the fifth, four in the sixth and two in the seventh for the seven-run victory.
Joshua Cruz led the way with three RBI while also scoring a run.
Kris Williams drove in one and scored twice.
Rayvion Alexander and
Denny Daza each knocked in a run. Alexander scored once as well.
Camillo Martinez was plated twice after walking twice.
Hunter Justice continued his solid campaign. He struck out seven in the complete-game win. Justice only gave up one run on four hits and walked one.
PC lost the nightcap 10-5.
Alejandro Fernandez led the way with two hits and drove in two.
Joshua Cruz scored twice in the contest.
Fabio Warff worked four innings while
Vladimir Lemos tossed 1.1 frames. Cruz worked the final two-thirds of the game.
The Lions return to action Wednesday when they host Claflin at 1 p.m.
