MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Paine College baseball team dropped a 12-2 decision to No. 4 Florida Memorial Thursday evening.
The Lions are now 15-14 on the season.
The designated visitors jumped on top with seven runs in the top of the second.
PC pushed across a run in the bottom of the stanza.
Vladimir Lemos led off with a single to left field. With two down,
Jeury Beato and
Camillo Martinez each drew walks to load the bases.
Rayvion Alexander took a base on balls, pushing across Lemos to make it 7-1.
Florida Memorial added two runs in the fourth but the Lions would also add a run in the inning. With one away,
Jhoel Melone tripled to the game in left center field. Beato's sacrifice fly made it 9-2.
The visitors added two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth for the run-rule victory.
Joshua Cruz led the way with a pair of hits.
Denny Daza, Lemos, Melone and Alexander all had base knocks. Alexaner and Beato each drove in a run while Lemos and Melone trotted across home plate.
Fabio Warff took the loss. He worked 1.1 innings and had a strikeout.
Christian Tibabijo tossed 6.2 innings of work and recorded a strikeout.
