TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. – The Paine College volleyball team split a pair of matches on Friday, falling to Pensacola Christian 3-0 before downing Toccoa Falls 3-2.
Against Pensacola Christian,
Najla Betts led the squad with seven kills and a .333 attack percentage.
Soleil Johnson added four kills while
Makayla Evans chipped in three.
Kelsey Williams dished out seven assists.
Evans accounted for 16 digs while
Kelsey Williams added seven. At the net, Johnson and
Akirah McCrae were each in on three blocks.
Against Toccoa Falls, the Lady Lions lost the first two frames before bouncing back to win 25-20, 26-24, 15-11.
In the win, Betts totaled a team-best nine kills. McCrae added six while Johnson and
Kennedy Williams had five kills each.
Kelsey Williams posted 10 assists while
Chelsea Brooks had eight.
At the service line, Evans and Johnson each served up two aces.
Defensively, Betts and McCrae had six block assists each while
Kennedy Williams and
Jamia Seals totaled three block assists apiece.
Along the back line, Johnson notched a team-high 12 digs.
Jamaya Allen and Seals recorded 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
The Lady Lions return to action Tuesday when they host Carolina University at 5 p.m.
