MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The Paine College men's basketball team lost a 75-68 contest at Brewton-Parker Tuesday evening.
The Lions are now 1-3 on the year while B-P stands at 3-2.
Calvin Johnson led the way with a game-best 24 points on seven-of-14 shooting from the floor. He also drained 10-of-13 from the foul line.
Quinnton Jackson tallied 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals while
Jocqua Keaton totaled 10 points and three steals.
Najai Moody accounted for eight points and seven rebounds to go along with a pair of blocks.
For the game, PC hit 24-of-65 from the floor and 17-of-23 from the charity stripe. The team totaled 32 points in the paint and scored 24 points off 21 turnovers by the home squad.
Trailing 43-17 at the break, the Lions erupted for a 51-point second stanza while limiting the home team to 32 points.
Down 50-25 at the 16:34 mark, Johnson hit two free throws before finding Jackson for a three-ball. Moments later, Johnson converted a three-point play, making it 55-38. When Keaton found Johnson for a jumper at the 11:56 mark, the Lions trimmed the margin to 14, 56-42.
At the 9:18 mark and with 7:30 to play, PC cut the deficit to 12 – with the second time coming off a three-pointer by Keaton.
The Lions continued to thrive offensively and made it 67-56 with 4:27 on the clock on a lay-up by Johnson. After a defensive rebound by Moody, Johnson hit an inside bucket to pull within nine, 67-59.

Kole Taylor bucket with 2:42 to play pulled the team within seven, 69-62 and a shot from downtown by Keaton trimmed the margin to six, 72-66, with 1:30 on the clock. Jackson hit a jumper to make it a five-point game before B-P hit two free throws for the final score.
The Lions return to action Tuesday, Nov. 19, when they host North Greenville at 7 p.m.
