AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Paine College women's basketball team lost a 102-70 contest to Simmons University of Kentucky Friday evening.
The Lady Lions are now 0-6 on the season.

Kisha Lucette's team was led by
Carlysha Golatt's team-high 23 points. She drained three shots from downtown and hit 14-of-16 from the charity stripe.
Leia Brown added 14 points and six rebounds while
Adia Dormu accounted for a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. She also added four assists and four steals in 33 minutes of action.
Jayla Dendy contributed 10 points and six rebounds.
Kylie Fleet tallied five points and six assists while
Da'Mar Wims totaled four points and four rebounds while
Zakarah Powell totaled four boards.
For the game, PC hit 19-of-58 from the floor, including seven-of-19 from the charity stripe. The team also drained 25 free throws. The Lady Lions netted 18 points in the paint and scored 18 second chance points. Lucette's team garnered 16 points on the break and amassed 27 points off the bench.
Down 11-2, Golatt buried three free throws. Moments later, Dormu added a free throw and Brown hit a three-ball to make it 12-9. Dormu's free throw and Brown's jumper knotted it at 12-12. Trailing 16-15, Golatt hit two charity tosses to give the home team a one-point edge. A lay-up from Wims tied the game at 19-19.
The visitors took a 47-33 lead into halftime and outscored the home team 39-10 in the third frame. PC outscored the visitors 27-16 in the final 10 minutes of action.
Fleet found Dendy for a three-point bucket with 7:48 to play in the final frame. Moments later, Wims took a pass from Dormu for an inside shot. Golatt then connected on four straight free throws.
The Lady Lions return to action Tuesday when they host Abraham Baldwin at 5:30 p.m.
At the game, the Community Engagement Award Honorees presented by Murphy Auto Group were recognized.
