AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Paine College women's basketball team lost an 84-65 decision to Abraham Baldwin Tuesday evening.

The Lady Lions are now 0-7 on the season.

Head coach Kisha Lucette's team was led by Jala Morgan's team-high 23 points to go along with five boards. Leia Brown added 13 points and eight rebounds while Jayla Dendy totaled 11 points and 10 boards for a double-double.

Da'Mar Wims narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds to go along with three blocks. Adia Dormu totaled seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals while Kylie Fleet tallied two points, six rebounds and three assists. Zakarah Powell chipped in a pair of assists.

For the game, PC hit 26-of-68 from the floor, including seven-of-22 from the three-point stripe. The team tallied 32 points in the paint and scored 12 second chance points.

A lay-up by Wims gave the home team a 6-4 lead in the first quarter. Dormu found Fleet for a basket, pushing the margin to four. Moments later, Dendy's shot pushed the margin to five, 12-7. However, the visitors took the lead for good with a 14-2 run to close the frame.

Down 46-30 at the break, Lucette's squad outscored the visitors in the third frame by two. Trailing 55-33, Morgan hit a pair of shots before Dendy canned a lay-up on the break to make it 55-39. With the score at 62-40, Dendy hit a shot. Brown took a pass from Fleet for a lay-up. Dendy canned a free throw before Brown found Morgan for a three-point shot with 13 seconds to go in the quarter, cutting the deficit to 14, 62-48.

That was as close as the home squad could get the rest of the way.

The Lady Lions return to action Friday when they host Clinton College at 5:30 p.m.
