MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Paine College men's basketball team lost a pair of contests over opening weekend.

The squad lost 84-71 to Faulkner before falling 107-70 to William Carey.

Against Faulkner, Jocqua Keaton led the way with 19 points on seven-of-18 shooting from the floor. Quinnton Jackson chipped in 13 points on six-of-15 shooting. Na'jai Moody added nine points, eight rebounds and three blocks while Calvin Johnson chipped in eight points, six boards and three steals.

Jaylan Dopson tallied nine points and five rebounds while Khalid Johnson had seven points.

The Lions drained 29-of-64 from the floor, including seven-of-19 from the three-point stripe.

PC scored 32 points in the paint, converted 11 offensive rebounds into 13 second-chance points and scored nine points on the break.

Against William Carey, Keaton accounted for a team-best 14 points in 29 minutes of work. Jackson and Dopson posted 12 points apiece while Curtis Phillips contributed nine points to go along with five steals. Khalid Johnson notched eight points while Calvin Johnson had six points and five rebounds.

In the contest, PC hit 27-of-72 from the floor, including nine-of-24 from downtown. The team hit seven-of-eight from the charity stripe.

The Lions scored 32 points in the paint and accounted for 14 points on the break.

The Lions return to action Saturday, Nov. 9, when they play at Point University.
