AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Paine College men's basketball team picked up its third consecutive win with a 91-56 victory over Abraham Baldwin Tuesday evening.
The Lions are now 5-4 on the season.
PC was led by
Quinnton Jackson's 14-point, six-rebound, three-steal performance.
Calvin Johnson Jocqua Keaton,
Khalid Johnson and
Jasper Clements scored 11 points apiece.
Amarie Kirby added 10 points in the win.
Curtis Phillips had seven points while
Kole Taylor added five.
Najai Moody had four points while
Joshua Johnson tallied three.
Jaylen Dopson and
Jeremiah White had two points each.
Moody snagged eight boards to lead the way while Phillips had four of the team's 15 steals.
For the game, PC hit 30-of-72 from the floor, including 13-of-31 from downtown. The team buried 18-of-24 from the free throw line. The Lions scored 26 points in the paint and converted miscues into 31 points. The squad got 46 points off the bench and had 35 points on the break.
The Lions netted the first 10 points of the game and never looked back. Keeton got things going before Johnson buried a three-ball. Jackson scored the next five points for the 10-0 lead. Up 20-15, Johnson and Phillips scored buckets. A three-ball from Kirby pushed the advantage to 27-17.
Holding a 32-22 edge, Keeton nailed a shot from distance as did Taylor. After a bucket from Jackson, the visitors made it a 40-24 game at the break.
With 15:32 to play, Jackson hit a free throw for a 48-28 advantage. The margin grew to 26 when Johnson hit a lay-up with 11:21 to play. Back-to-back three-point shots pushed the lead to 31, but a steal and pass from Phillips to Kirby made it 71-37 with 7:05 remaining.
Late in the game, PC continued to convert shots. With 21 ticks remaining,
