CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Paine College women's basketball team lost an 81-69 game at Johnson & Wales Tuesday evening.
The Lady Lions are now 0-13 on the season.

Kisha Lucette's team was paced by
Leia Brown's game-high 23 points on nine-of-18 shooting from the floor. She also snagged six boards and had three assists.
Kyra McCrary tallied 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals while
Adia Dormu notched 13 points, eight boards, five steals and two blocks.
Amaria Wright contributed seven points and four rebounds while
Jayla Dendy netted five points.
Kylie Fleet chipped in two points in the loss.
For the game, PC hit 25-of-65 from the floor, including four-of-11 from downtown. The squad buried 15-of-25 from the charity stripe. PC scored 20 points in the lane and had 22 points off turnovers. The team also posted 12 second chance points.
Down 24-17 after the first quarter, Lucette's team outscored the home squad 19-9 over the second 10-minute span. Trailing 26-19, Brown took a pass from Wright and drained a three-ball. Another bucket from Brown made it 26-24 with 7:31 to play. After a pair of free throws by Brown knotted the game, a charity toss from McCrary gave the Lady Lions a 27-26 edge.
With J&W leading 31-30,
Zakarah Powell found Brown for a shot from downtown, giving PC a 33-31 advantage. Tied at 33-33, Fleet found Brown for a three-point bucket just before halftime, sending the Lady Lions into the break up 36-33.
Brown found the bottom of the net for the opening bucket of the third frame, but a 9-0 lead by the home squad gave them the lead. PC tied the contest twice, including on a jumper from McCrary at the 2:54 mark. A Dendy lay-up propelled the Lady Lions to a 51-50 advantage, but J&W took a 56-51 lead entering the fourth quarter.
PC cut the deficit to four with 6:56 to play on two free throws by McCrary, but that was as close as the team could get the rest of the way.
The Lady Lions return to action Thursday, Jan. 23, when they play at Clinton College at 5:30 p.m.
