AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Paine College men's basketball team cruised past Trinity Baptist College on Saturday by a score of 106-92.

The Lions are now 14-5 on the season and have won nine straight contests.

The Lions pulled down 38 rebounds, including 12 on the offensive glass. PC had 10 second-chance points and netted 54 points in the paint. Additionally, the squad recorded 16 points off turnovers.

The high-scoring affair saw the Lions take a 16-5 lead just 4:06 into the contest when Johnson found Keeton for a three-ball. Holding a 22-14 edge, Jackson converted a lay-up for a 10-point margin at the 12:10 mark.

Up by only six, the Lions embarked on a run that pushed the score to 32-18 when Jackson hit a free throw with 10:21 to play. PC saw its lead whittled down to five, but Taylor and Johnson hit free throws. With the score 49-46, Jackson and Taylor made lay-ups. A lay-up by Kirby just before halftime pushed the score to 55-46.

The Lions increased the advantage to 73-56 at the 13:12 mark when Kirby found the bottom of the net off a three-point bucket. PC saw the lead cut to 10, but the stingy defense did not allow TBC to get any closer the rest of the way.
