AUGUSTA, Ga. (Women's basketball) – The Paine College women's basketball team is gearing up for Thanksgiving weekend match up against the College of Coastal Georgia on Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. in Brunswick, Ga.
The Lady Lions (0-5) are still in the hunt for their first win of the season as they fell to Augusta University, 83-68, on Nov. 21.
Janisha Wilkerson and
Ashley Watts continue to shine as the duo lead Paine in scoring. Wilkerson and Watts are currently averaging 16 points and 15 points per game, respectively. Watts keeps the table set for her teammates with 7.4 assists per game. Wilkerson and
Delisia Sharpe have been making their presence felt in the paint with 1.2 blocks per game. The Lady Lion hitting the boards hardest this season is
Tannasia Rhodes. Rhodes has had a nose for the ball as she is averaging 6.6 rebounds per game.
The Coastal women are currently 3-4 this season and are trying to bounce back from a loss to Bethel University, 81-51.
The Lady Lions will need to shut down Janne Tullius who has an average of 14.1 points per game. The Mariners assist leader Gabby O'Sullivan could create problems as she is averaging 2.7 assists. Anissa Toumi is the rebounding leader for Coastal Georgia with 6.3 rebounds per game. The woman in the paint for Coastal is Ashanti Groover with 2.7 blocks per game.
